I started this blog site in 2018. In recent years I have written less frequently because honestly, people don’t read anymore. But once in a while events occur which cannot be ignored.
First, let’s go back in history.
In November 2015, presidential candidate Donald Trump mocked a disabled reporter during a political rally. Trump supporters rushed to his defense, claiming he had done no such thing. It was the beginning of a disturbing trend of ridiculous denial. Defending the indefensible.
Since then, the list of reprehensible acts and declarations by Trump has become way too long to be discussed in anything but a lengthy book. Therefore, I will just touch upon some that have struck me the most.
Fast forward to January 2021, when the previously unthinkable happened. The U.S. Capitol was attacked by an angry mob of Trump supporters, incited by months of stolen election claims by Trump himself. Bogus claims that began even BEFORE the elections, in a skillful way to “plant the seeds.”
For the first time in recorded history, a sitting President refused to participate in the transition process with the newly elected one.
Again, I will not attempt to go through every reprehensible act or statement made by Trump throughout the years. That is beyond the scope of this article. I will say this, however.
The U.S. public in general has gradually become increasingly desensitized as the standard of morals and values continues to be lowered.
Let’s jump to the present, when the president (lower case intentional) of the United States has just posted on his social media feed that he is GLAD about the death of Robert Mueller, former FBI director.

What has been the reaction from his cult-like MAGA base? Once again, they have leaped to his defense. This time they can’t claim he was misquoted, that it is AI, that it was taken out of context, or blame it on CNN or TDS.
So they go another route, saying that Trump just said out loud what many people think when their enemies die. Wow. Sad, but ok. Except that we’re talking about the president of the United States of America.
I am a Christian, as I have stated in previous blog articles. I am aware that the Bible clearly states that all governing authorities are established by God (Romans 13). I also clearly understand that God’s purpose is His own and beyond our understanding (Isaiah 55:8-9).
But what many Christians fail to understand is that while God has allowed Trump to become president, this fact does NOT make Donald Trump a good President, or even a good and decent human being.
Trump is sitting in the White House today because it is God’s plan, for reasons that are beyond our comprehension.
Maybe it’s because the chaos, division, and hate that have ensued in the past 10 years are all part of an overall plan by God, and is based completely in Scripture. Maybe it has NOTHING to do with Trump being a good President.
So the insistence of many Christians on making Trump out to be a good president, or even a good and decent human being, does NOTHING to further the cause of Christianity. We are called upon to evangelize, both by word and by actions.
How do you evangelize to someone who does not know the Lord, while at the same time defending a president who says he’s GLAD someone died??
I’ll close with this question, and let it sink in.
