The world has become topsy-turvy. It is nothing like it was 20 years ago.
Imagine Rip Van Winkle (Google him if you need to) waking up in 2026 from his 20-year slumber. He would think he had woken up on another planet.
To be clear… mankind is capable of great things. Technology breaks new barriers on a daily basis.
By the same token… mankind has also shown a disturbing ability to “fix what ain’t broken.”
Nothing is off-limits. I’m going to mention two specific topics.
First one: Homosexuality has always existed. However, only recently has the “millennia-old” FACT of only two genders been challenged. FORGET male and female. Nowadays we have lists of anywhere between 70 to 85 “genders.”
Our vocabulary was straightforward. “He”, “she”, “his”, “hers.” You were BORN male or female, not “ASSIGNED” a gender. Nowadays, the phrase “the gender they were assigned at birth” has permeated our mainstream vocabulary.
“Binary” was always a word reserved for mathematics and computer languages. The word “fluid” was used either in physics, or to describe a non-fixed, changing situation. Today you have people who “flow” between genders, and label themselves “non-binary.”
Recently we have seen a rise in “therians” (even my “spellcheck” is having a problem with that one). People who identify as non-human animals. Riiiight… Hey, why not.
Then of course there is the topic of politics…
People have always either agreed or disagreed about social issues. It is our nature as individuals. However, virtues such as respect, dignity, empathy, humility, common sense, and wisdom used to be universally admired no matter what the opinions were. Now they are nearing extinction.
To hear a leader speak, whether we agreed with his/her opinions or not, was to admire a person with an educated mind, articulate in speech, wisdom in his/her thoughts.
Granted, for many decades, frustration has existed with the reality that politicians “talk but do not follow through.” That they change their thought process strictly to win votes.
Enter Donald Trump. He benefited from a perfect storm of conman, public frustration, and underlying currents of hate, bigotry, and ignorance. You could say the situation was ripe for “a Donald Trump.”
Since Trump, there has been a gradual and constant lowering of “society’s acceptable bar.” Its magnitude is beyond the scope of this article. A large book would be required to fully cover all the transgressions committed by this man.
Suffice it to say that he finally “put the cherry on top” by posting an AI-generated image of himself depicted as Jesus Christ. And STILL… his MAGA faithful continue in unrelenting support and defense of their cult leader. Unbelievable!
In fact, cult leaders of the past could have taken classes from this man.
The politics of the past have disappeared. In their place, polarized cult followings have taken root. Debates are a thing of the past. Replaced by name-calling, labels, and fighting. Families have been ripped apart.
Social media and artificial intelligence have been weaponized to create supporting content.
Which brings me to God. Humanity needs God today more than ever. It is obvious that man is self-destructive. Wars, hate, racism, greed, arrogance, lack of empathy, gullibility, ignorance, willful twisting of the mind… to mention a few.
God gave man free will. And look at what we’ve done with it. We need to humble ourselves before God and seek His wisdom and guidance.
If there has ever been a time to believe and pray to God, this is it.
